The active summer season has begun at the bridge crossing construction site on the Lena River near Yakutsk, with work in all key areas currently underway. More than 460 specialists and 110 units of specialized equipment are simultaneously working at the processing sites on the left and right banks, as well as in the riverbed.
Preparation of the water area for installation of the first cofferdam in its design position is underway; more than 70% of the dredging work has been completed in the construction area of support #10. Forming the design bottom elevations is necessary for the subsequent anchoring of the structure in the riverbed. Concurrently, pre-assembly of the cofferdam wall panels for support #8 is underway, and the bottom elements are being installed. Once completed, this will be the third and final cofferdam designed for the construction of the bridge's riverbed piers.
On the right-bank section, bored piles are being installed for the supports of the future road access. Work is underway on several supports at once: #18, 23, 26, 28, and 29. Pile foundations for five other supports are already fully completed. Earthworks are ongoing. More than 380,000 m3 of soil have already been filled.
The Lena Bridge is one of the largest concession projects in Russia. The 14.5-kilometer bridge will be the first year-round road crossing over the Lena River in Yakutia. The project is being implemented as part of the “Infrastructure for Life” national project. VIS Group is the concessionaire, investor, and general contractor.
