Khabarovsk region Governor Dmitry Demeshin visited the construction site of the largest school in the Russian Far East being built by VIS Group in the Orekhovaya Sopka microdistrict of Khabarovsk under a concession agreement.
During his inspection of the site, the regional governor noted the project's importance for the development of the city's social infrastructure. “Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized: we must not simply construct buildings, but create conditions that make school learning engaging, provide children with opportunities for development, and motivate teachers to work with passion,” said Dmitry Demeshin.
VIS Group CEO Sergey Yudin explained that after the holding company became the project’s concessionaire, construction was quickly launched and the project's implementation pace was maintained.
“For us, this is not just a construction project, but a comprehensive infrastructure project. After VIS Group became the concessionaire, we were able to quickly mobilize construction resources, begin work, and simultaneously continue design work. Our goal is to create a modern school that will become a key social facility for the entire city,” emphasized Sergey Yudin.
Currently, over 30 specialists and 12 pieces of construction equipment have been engaged at the construction site. Work on the building's foundation slab is ongoing. Excavation has been completed for four of the six sections, 840 m³ of concrete have been poured, and the foundations for foundation slabs #1, 2, 3, and 6 have been completed.
By the end of 2026, it is planned to finish the construction of all foundation slabs, waterproof and insulate the walls of the technical basement, and erect up to 70% of the building's above-ground load-bearing frame. Design work is also ongoing. Engineering surveys have been fully completed, with architectural solutions at 85% readiness, and structural solutions at 100% readiness. A positive state expert review is expected in the fall of 2026.
The 2,100-seat school will be one of the largest comprehensive schools in Russia. Similar schools have only been built in Moscow and the Moscow region. The total floor area of the four-story building will exceed 38,000 m². The project includes separate blocks for the elementary, middle, and high schools, modern learning spaces, a digital technology room, a video conference room, sports and assembly halls, as well as a stadium and sports fields on the adjacent property. VIS Group is the project investor and concessionaire, with the Khabarovsk region government serving as the concession grantor.
