Preparatory work for dredging the riverbed begins at the Lena Bridge construction site

14.02.2026. Preparatory work for dredging the riverbed begins at the Lena Bridge construction site

VIS Group is beginning work on the riverbed section of the bridge across the Lena River in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The production schedule for this large-scale project takes into account the region’s harsh climate and requires a strict sequence of technological operations. Site preparation for the installation of cofferdams and the construction of riverbed supports has already begun.

The first cofferdam of support No. 10 is completely mounted on the technological platform at site No. 2 on the left bank, while the assembly of the second, central cofferdam continues nearby. It is designed for the bridge's tallest pylon, which is over 284 meters tall. Here, 317 of the 2,834 tons of steel structures have been installed, and 13 of the 26 wall blocks have been consolidated. Simultaneously, reinforcement cages for the pylon are being manufactured at site No. 1, with 441 of the 629 already completed.

Work continues on the bridge's shore piers. For pier No. 5, sheet piling, totaling 176.1 tons, has been completed, allowing excavation to begin. At the same time, the heads of the bored piles are being cut down; the work is currently 32% complete. Once the pile field is cleared, the foundation section will be ready for the grillage and subsequent concreting.

Synchronizing production processes at various sites ensures the smooth construction of the Lena Bridge infrastructure – a strategic facility that will provide year-round transport links between Yakutsk and the federal highway network and enhance connectivity across the Far East. The project is being implemented under a concession agreement between the Government of Yakutia and VIS Group, which is the investor, concessionaire, and general contractor for the bridge construction project, and will be responsible for its operation until the expiration of the agreement.
