The Khabarovsk Bypass Highway is seeing steady growth in traffic

12.05.2026. The Khabarovsk Bypass Highway is seeing steady growth in traffic

In the first four months of 2026, traffic on the highway increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2025. Since the beginning of the year, over 1 million trips have already been made on the road. The operator has switched to the summer road maintenance mode.

Traditionally, highway traffic reaches record levels in the lead-up to the May holidays. The highest daily traffic volume – 14,600 trips per day – since the beginning of the year was recorded on April 30. This is the fifth-highest figure since the toll regime was introduced.

The Khabarovsk Bypass, the first toll road in the Russian Far East, opened to traffic in July 2022. After four years of operation, the number of trips has already approached 11 million. Traffic volume is constantly growing, with an average annual growth rate of 35%.

The project is being implemented by VIS Group under a concession agreement with the Government of the Khabarovsk Region. Currently, VIS Group’s operator company, Transtoll, is responsible for the commercial and technical operation of the highway. Under the concession terms, it is responsible for maintaining the road surface in good condition and ensuring the smooth operation of automated traffic management systems until 2031. The construction of the highway has diverted transit traffic outside the city limits, reduced congestion on the road network, and improved the environment.
