This is one of the environmental measures aimed to protect the environment and replenish biological resources as part of a concession project to build a bridge across the Lena River in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The release of 500,000 whitefish fingerlings took place in the village of Ulakhan-An in the Khangalassky District, marking the first such event in the region this season.
Whitefish are members of the whitefish family, native to the river basins of the Arctic Ocean. They are an endemic species, not found in the rivers of Russia’s European part. Last year, VIS Group released sturgeon fingerlings into the Lena River basin and organized the planting of pine seedlings. In addition, the costs associated with clearing vegetation in the bridge construction area were reimbursed; the funds were transferred to the regional budget in full.
Environmental campaigns are a mandatory part of the concession projects implemented by VIS Group. The holding company systematically executed such measures to reduce the negative environmental impact of construction work.
