VIS Group recognized as Best Partner in Preserving Historical Memory of Yakutia

20.01.2026. VIS Group recognized as Best Partner in Preserving Historical Memory of Yakutia

On January 20, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Government House hosted a review of the 2025 performance of the Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites. Companies that made significant contributions to preserving sites of historical and cultural value were recognized at the event. Nikolai Makarov, Head of the Department, presented VIS Group with the “Best Partner in Preserving Historical Memory” certificate. The holding company was recognized for its contribution to preserving Yakutia's cultural heritage through the implementation of the region's largest infrastructure project – the construction of a bridge across the Lena River.

In the summer of 2025, archaeological excavations were conducted at the ancient settlement of Khaptagai in the Lena Bridge construction area. Over 1,000 artifacts were discovered during excavations covering an area of 6,650 m2. Among the finds were the remains of a Yakut dwelling with storage pits and pottery fragments. The discovered objects are slated to be presented to the general public in March 2026 as part of a scientific and practical conference.

The work to identify and preserve cultural heritage sites was carried out as part of a concession project commissioned by VIS Group. The research was conducted by specialists from the Institute for Humanitarian Research and Problems of Indigenous Peoples of the North of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). All planned archaeological excavations have been completed in full, allowing construction workers to begin work on the site.

The Lena Bridge is one of the largest infrastructure projects in modern Russia. It will provide the first-ever year-round connection between the republic's territories separated by the river and will become part of a large-scale Far Eastern transport corridor.
