The jury of the inaugural DalArkh National Far East Architectural Award has announced the shortlist across nine categories, with finalists divided into two groups: completed projects and unrealized designs.
The project to construct a bridge crossing over the Lena River, which is being implemented by VIS Group under a concession agreement with the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), has been named a contender in the “Best Infrastructure Project” category.
A total of 321 entries were received from all 11 regions of the Russian Far East. Of these, 156 projects have already been completed, while 165 are currently in the design phase. The award encompasses a wide geographical range – from major cities to small settlements and from northern territories to coastal areas. The submitted projects reflect the diverse challenges facing the macro-region's architects and cities today, including the creation of public spaces, the development of social and tourism infrastructure, urban environment transformation, and comprehensive territorial planning.
The jury evaluated entries based on eight criteria: conceptual originality, alignment with regional characteristics, use of technologies and materials, social significance, environmental sustainability, architectural expression, economic viability, and the level of design detail. Projects were also assessed for their correspondence to the urban context and their impact on the quality of the environment.
The Lena Bridge is a unique project in terms of construction conditions and the technologies employed. Its three-pylon cable-stayed design will ensure year-round transport connectivity between different parts of Russia’s largest region. The project is part of the “Infrastructure for Life” national project. The general designer is AO Giprostroymost – St. Petersburg.
The DalArkh Award recognizes outstanding achievements in architecture and territorial development. It focuses not only on individual professionals and creative groups, but also on the city and regional teams whose projects are transforming the face of the Russian Far East. The winners will be announced on December 2, 2026 in Yakutsk.
